Day 1
Depart the UK for Cambodia - flights will travel overnight and arrive the following day.
Day 2
Welcome to Siem Reap! Nothing is planned for today, so relax in your hotel to get over your flight and prepare yourself for adventure tomorrow.
Day 3
Start your day with a visit to the magnificent Tonle Sap lake, to see local life, expansive rice fields, and quaint villages. You will explore the lake by wooden boat, learning more about life in rural Cambodia and marvelling at the stilted houses. The rest of your day is then free to explore the town of Siem Reap.
Day 4
A full day today to visit Siem Reap's most famous attractions - the Angkor temples. The day will be left flexible, but we would suggest Angkor Thom, the 'Tomb Raider' temple of Ta Prohm and, of course, Angkor Wat itself - the largest religious structure ever built.
Day 5
Head out to Kulen Mountain today, around an hour from Siem Reap, to meet its free roaming elephants. This incredible experience will allow you prepare food for these gentle giants, and stroll alongside them in their natural habitat. An unforgettable and ethical experience that helps support this valuable project.
Day 6
You will travel today by private vehicle into the Cambodian countryside, heading south from Siem Reap. There will be opportunities to stop along the way before reaching Kampong Chhnang in the afternoon, where relaxation and good food await.
Day 7
The Smiling Gecko project helps support local people throughout Cambodia, and staying in their Farmhouse Resort and Spa will allow you to do something meaningful with your tourist dollars, while also getting to experience a countryside escape like no other. There are no set plans today, so swim in the vast pool, dine on top-quality homegrown ingredients, or treat yourself to a luxurious spa treatment.
Day 8
As well as the many pampering experiences, there are also opportunities to explore the local area, or learn more about life in rural Cambodia on daily tours. Ask us in advance about the sorts of things you can do, or simply decide in person when you are there.
Day 9
A short drive south of the Farmhouse - if you can drag yourself away - is the capital city of Phnom Penh. A charming city that is fast modernising, with lots of great options to keep you entertained this afternoon. This evening, with your knowledgeable guide, explore the town for some delicious Khmer cuisine and a couple of drinks with the locals.
Day 10
Spend a full day with your private driver and guide taking in all the main sites of the city. This morning, be bowled over by the majesty of the golden Royal Palace, continuing to the National Museum and Wat Phnom pagoda. This afternoon, learn more about the more sobering recent history of the Khmer Rouge regime's atrocities, visiting the infamous Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Prison.
Day 11
Today the beach beckons...your drive will meet you for your transfer to the port in Sihanoukville to board your boat to the island of Koh Rong (or a similar nearby gem). The rest of the day is free to do nothing more than laze away on a lounger (though there are plenty of activities to enjoy should you prefer to keep active!)
Day 12
A day to relax on the beach.
Day 13
A final full day to relax on the beach.
Day 14
Return to the mainland by boat to meet your driver, and hit the highway to the airport in Phnom Penh. Bid farewell to Cambodia, and travel back to the UK overnight.
Day 15
Arrive home (and get planning your next big adventure).

With two weeks to spare you can cover a lot of bases in Cambodia: history, culture, and wildlife.  City, countryside, and beach.  It’s a perfect combination for a holiday, as we can all agree.  Our Best of Cambodia itinerary doesn’t load up your days with long transfers, making the most instead of the wealth of activities on offer in a few key spots, to help you get a real feel for this welcoming and magical destination.

On your busiest days you will be seeing local life, meeting friendly elephants, and stepping through centuries of ancient history… but this is also a holiday, so plenty of time to relax has been factored in too.  Lounge by the pool in the greenery of rural Kampong Chhnang in the middle of your trip, and chill out on the white sand beaches of the islands at the end, until it’s time to make your way home again.  Why relegate Cambodia to a few days of temple-hopping, when you can experience a varied and unforgettable fortnight instead?
