Born out of an admirable conservation project designed to protect desert elephants, Huab Lodge has been one of Damaraland’s most welcoming accommodations for a number of years. The atmosphere throughout is relaxed and low-key, with attentive personal service and the usual outstanding Namibian scenery making it an enticing place to while away the afternoon hours. There is a swimming pool to cool off, a thermal spring in which to take the waters and a range of aromatherapy treatments on offer from a resident therapist.

With all this comfort around, it is tempting to rock back and do very little, but Namibia is all about the activities and sense of adventure. Guests will not find this lacking at Huab Lodge, with scenic nature drives and guided hikes on offer, plus the chance to track desert elephants (if they are in the vicinity) with an experienced guide. Accommodation is also agreeable, with eight traditional stone and thatch bungalows providing all the comforts you could need and taking full advantage of the resplendent surrounding landscapes. Unpretentious, picturesque and cosy, Huab Lodge is highly recommended for a couple of nights on the northern Namibia loop.
