Day 1
Fly overnight to Cape Town.

Day 2
You are privately transferred from the airport to your hotel for a three night stay. There are some lovely family-friendly hotels in the area and it’s packed with the sort of fun, interesting and generally outdoor excursions that parents and kids alike will enjoy.

Day 3
At Cape Point, kids can enjoy the funicular railway whilst the penguins of Boulders Beach will inevitably be a major highlight.

Day 4
Visit the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront where both kids and adults can immerse in the world of over 80 aquatic species.

Day 5
Leaving the city, you make your way to the De Hoop Nature Reserve for a two night stay.

Day 6
Immerse yourself in absolute tranquillity and get a flavour of some of the local South African wildlife as the reserve is home to herds of bontebok, eland and zebra, as well as marine life and birding.

Day 7
Heading out to the Karoo, you arrive in Oudtshoorn for a two night stay. This is a scenic drive, so don't rush!

Day 8
Oudtshoorn is one of those lesser visited areas but has so much to offer, such as the dramatic cango caves, ostrich farms and meerkat adventures.

Day 9
Continue on to the Garden Route where you spend four nights. Have a chat to us about the best hotels and excursions for you and your family: there’s plenty of choice and we’ll definitely be able to find something that is just right for you!

Day 10
Head to the Crags near Plettenberg Bay to visit the Elephant Sanctuary, Monkeyland, the Birds of Eden and the Tenikwa Big Cat Experience, all of which are great for kids.

Day 11
Perhaps take an ocean safari today to see seals and dolphins, and in season (June-November), whales.

Day 12
The beaches of the Garden Route are great for long walks, shell hunting and sand castle building.

Day 13
Head further east today, to the game parks of the Eastern Cape for two nights on safari.

Days 14
We’ll choose a safari lodge for you that offers the most fun combination of activities for you and your children. Elder children can join you on game drives and bush walks to get up close and personal with the big game, whereas younger children have programmes of bug hunting and cookie making!

Day 15
Head to Port Elizabeth Airport for an overnight flight home via Johannesburg.

South Africa is the perfect destination for families and has experiences and adventures to excite everyone from adults to teenagers and toddlers. Like most holidays to South Africa, you start in Cape Town where we recommend visiting not only Table Mountain but the penguins of Boulders Beach, World of Birds and the Two Oceans Aquarium to experience an immersive and safe encounter with the local wildlife. In the De Hoop Nature Reserve, there are trails to explore, rock pools to investigate and antelope species to discover. Oudtshoorn is one of those destinations, lesser-visited when travelling along the southern coast, but definitely worth a stop with the family as you can descend into the Cango caves, visit an ostrich farm and come face-to-face with meerkats. From the Garden Route, the animal sanctuaries of The Crags are always popular with kids as well as tree-top adventures and canoe trips for the older children. Finally, by going on safari in the Eastern Cape, there is no need to take anti-malarial tablets, important when travelling with young ones.
