Ilayka is a lovely riad and one of our favourites in Marrakesh. It’s highly decorative but avoids being stuffy or formal; there are rich colours, beautifully painted wooden screens and ceilings, attractive furniture where delicately-carved wood is inlaid with pearl and bone and traditional zelij (stunning tile work) from Fez. In the courtyard the pretty fountain is framed by graceful trees providing shade for the breakfast and evening meals offered. As well as sunbeds and city views, the rooftop terrace is also where you’ll find a small pool, perfect for soaking tired limbs after a day exploring the city.
