Tucked away in a quiet corner of the medina, away from the market stalls and hawkers, Dar Maya is small but perfectly formed. The rooms are tucked over three floors, with a couple of lounges for relaxation and breakfast (there’s no restaurant on site), Everything is remarkably stylish, with smooth tadlakht walls, unvarnished woods and simple, minimalist decoration. Up on the terrace is a hot tub to help unwind after a days’ sightseeing. Whilst Dar Maya doesn’t have the facilities of most other Essaouira hotels, it certainly has more style than many of them.
