Arenal Observatory Lodge is a wonderful simple local-style property for birdwatching enthusiasts and wildlife & nature lovers. This remoter lodge is set in acres of stunning tropical forest and gardens right out on its own and with clear volcano views. It is situated in a wonderful region rich with flora and fauna around half an hour from the local town of La Fortuna so it is quiet and unspoilt here. You are right next to the Arenal Reserve area for hiking as well as ziplining , so it also is a great location for active adventures too.

The lodge is constructed in typical wooden style and is comfortable rather than luxurious but the attraction is in the nature outside really. There is a lovely pool area in the jungle as well as observatory towers, hanging bridges and a fantastic viewing platform by the main lodge area. Note no air-conditioning here, only ceiling fans, but it is quite high up so you should still feel comfortable. You can also explore their museum of birds and a vast networks of hiking trails around the property.
