The Twelve Apostles is ideally located, being just outside the Cape Town suburb of Camps Bay, but definitely in the rural beauty of the Peninsula itself. Surrounded by indigenous fynbos vegetation that rises up the eponymous Twelve Apostles mountains behind the hotel, the view is directly over the Atlantic Ocean towards the setting sun; the small cove in front of the hotel even has its own shipwreck. The rooms are decorated in classic, elegant style, with muted colours and striking patterns, whilst the public areas have a more modern feel to them. There is an excellent spa at the hotel, and once you’ve unwound with a luxurious treatment, there’s nothing better than retiring to the bar terrace and enjoying a glass of champagne as the sun sets over the ocean.
