Situated on the edge of town, overlooking the Swakop River on one side and the Atlantic on the other, The Stiltz is a singular property in Swakopmund that is ideal for those unconcerned about staying in the centre. The walk into town takes no longer than 15 minutes and the drive only five, but The Stiltz retains a tranquil, slightly windswept ambience that no other guesthouse in the area can match.
There are nine wooden bungalows and two villas, built on stilts to maximise the views in each direction, all connected to the main lodge building by a high wooden walkway. The comfortable, spacious rooms have high a-frame ceilings, en-suite bathrooms and brightly coloured textiles that provide extra warmth amidst the predominant dark woods. There is a central breakfast room looking out to the ocean where hearty buffet breakfasts are served, and a reception area where staff are always helpful with restaurant bookings and activity recommendations. Although The Stiltz doesn’t offer lunch or dinner, it is at the same end of town as Swakopmund’s most famous restaurant, The Tug, and we have rarely heard of the hotel being unable to secure you a table at short notice.
