Situated far from the other Wolwedans accommodations, within a remote landscape of wide open plains and scattered kopjes that give the camp its name, Boulders is the most exclusive, intimate camp within the portfolio. There are just four large tented rooms overlooking a huge plain that attracts varied wildlife, under the striking shadow of a tumbling cascade of boulders. These are sometime incorporated in the tent design features, so that one of the bathrooms has a huge boulder inside which guests sidestep to get to the shower after a busy day of exploration.
The location is genuinely remote and tranquil, in the south of the reserve where the terrain is generally flatter and more open than further north. This lends the camp an intensely peaceful air, in tune with the pristine natural surroundings, an atmosphere that is enhanced by the unobtrusive design of the camp and the utterly private nature drives and guided walks. The central lodge has a lounge, dining area and a breakfast-sundowner deck with an open fireplace, while guests can climb the kopjes next to camp to enjoy a drink with unrivalled views over the area. Isolated from noise and general civilisation, the elegance and slow pace of life at Boulders is delightful.
