Scenic drives around the Namibrand from a base at one of the Wolwedans camps take in the diverse, beautiful landscapes of the reserve in a relatively short time. Taking roughly four hours, with stops for either tea and snacks or sundowners (depending on the time of day), the distance covered can be up to 50km, meaning you are able to drink in the a varied range of vistas from towering dunes to wide green valleys (at least in the rainy season)! Perhaps even more enticing is a full day drive with a picnic lunch, covering over 100km and reaching the most remote corners of the reserve. That said, everywhere in the Namibrand is remote, and you will encounter very few other vehicles on your excursion. You will though see oryx, springbok, ostrich and a variety of birds, stopping regularly to discuss less conspicuous phenomena such as fairy circles, desert insects and vegetation with your guide.
