The AfriCat Foundation threw open its gates to day trippers for the first time in August 2012. Visitors passing through the area can now meet the big cats and predators rehabilitated by AfriCat, gaining a wider sense of the conservation work being carried out on the private Okonjima Reserve. There will be two set departures per day, one in the late morning and one in the early afternoon, with children four and older allowed to participate.
The trip includes a drive to the AfriCat Carnivore Care centre, where a guide will answer any questions you have about the foundation or the animals themselves. You will get up close and personal with some of the resident animals (mainly cheetahs) and have ample opportunity to get that potentially award winning predator photograph! A light packed lunch will also be served, as visitors enjoy the communal experience of eating together and discussing all aspects of the day’s experience.
