Ryad Salama is a great antidote to the typical highly decorative Fassi style. If you’ve had enough of thousands of blue tiles and ornate plasterwork, and you’re looking for something a little more simple but authentically Moroccan, then this is the place for you to stay. In Fez el-Bali, you’re down a quite side alley yet only seconds walk from the main streets of the medina. The riad is small and cosy, with a garden and fountain at its heart. The rooms are decorated in simple woods and tiles to create a rustic but very comfortable feel. Fabrics are in warm, earthy tones and there are traditional Moroccan pictures and artefacts dotted throughout the riad to give a real sense of place.
