Light, bright and airy, Ryad Mabrouka melds the best of Moorish architecture with a more classically European feel. The upper stories are relatively austere in decoration, with simple stained glass and European furnishings, whilst below the garden is surrounded by highly decorative pillars in typical blue Fassi tiles, the sprawling greenery and delicate flowers contrasting pleasantly with the attractive plasterwork. Each room has been decorated individually, some in very high Fassi style, others more low key and drawing their influences from across Europe and Africa. The terrace makes the most of the position just inside the walls of Fez el-Bali, with views over the medina and towards the Borj Nord on the surrounding hills.
