The restoration work that turned Dar Les Cigognes from a tumbledown medina riad into a luxury hotel has been done to the highest standards. The tadlakht walls gleam, the smooth plaster perfectly applied, and the frieze work is painstakingly carved. Each courtyard is a small haven of greenery amidst the earthen tones of the buildings, and a rarefied atmosphere, peaceful and exclusive, pervades. Located right next to the kasbah in the south of the medina, the rooftop terrace overflows with plants and flowers, and offers views of the stork nests atop surrounding ramparts, from where the hotel takes its name (cigognes being the French for storks).
