Set in 62 acres of private tea estate, Rosyth Estate House is a beautifully converted planter’s bungalow that is now an idyllic hillside retreat. It’s located close to Kegalle, just 45 minutes from Kandy and approximately 2.5 from Colombo, making it a convenient stop at the start or end of a trip. The property dates back to 1926; its colonial character can be seen throughout with high ceilings, large verandas and wonderful antique beds. The six rooms are all completely unique due to the historic architecture but generally expect 300-thread count linen, comfortable beds, rain showers, and contemporary bathrooms. For those who like to indulge we suggest going for the Deluxe Rooms: these are bigger and more private than the Classic Rooms. Conveniently two of the Deluxe Rooms interconnect to make one big room, ideal for families. The large glassy restaurant has beautiful views and serves delicious Sri Lankan cuisine for both lunch and dinner. For those in need or a rest you’ll find a crisp pool and lots of space to relax and read a book. For those who like to explore there are several walking trails nearby as well as bicycles to be enjoyed that are free of charge.
