Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa is one of Passikudah’s luxury beachfront resorts, but with a charming twist: built to resemble a traditional fishing village, this property consists of rustic timber buildings and chalet rooms spread out on the golden sandy beach, overlooking the turquoise waters.
The resort features 40 spacious rooms and suites that offer stunning views of the Indian Ocean. Each chalet is equipped with modern amenities such as A/C, flat-screen TVs, and private balconies or terraces. The interiors of the chalets are fun and colourful, with bright fish-painted upholstery (maalu means “fish” in Sinhala), in keeping with the fishing village inspiration.
Guests can indulge in a range of culinary delights at the resort’s several restaurants. The main restaurant, White Sands, serves a variety of international and local cuisines, while the Beach Bar offers a more relaxed atmosphere with refreshing cocktails and light snacks.
Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa has a long outdoor infinity pool, spa, small fitness centre, late-night bar and offers activities such as complimentary sunrise yoga, cooking demonstrations, jetskiing, a traditional village tour by bicycle or tuk-tuk, snorkelling, diving, fishing excursions or a sunset catamaran cruise.
