Located beside historic Kandy lake and close to The Temple of the Tooth, Hotel Suisse offers a no-frills base for your time exploring Kandy city. The colonial building has 90-rooms and stands on four acres of landscaped gardens. In the 17th century Hotel Suisse was the residence of the Chief Minister of the Royal Granary. In 1818 this property was acquired by the British and occupied by an officer who named it “Haramby House”. Later it was sold to Swiss national Madam Burdayron, who turned it into a guesthouse. During the second world war between 1943 to 1945 it was used as the Headquarters of the South-East Asia Command. These days Hotel Suisse is a property of the Ceylon Hotels Corporation managed by the Galle Face Hotel Group.
