Although similar in style to many other guesthouses and hotels in the region (historic, settler-style architecture, modern décor with antique touches), Rosenhof is a cut above the rest in terms of the quality and attention to detail. So the bathroom floors are marble, the bedroom floors are carpeted in mute shades and elegant artwork hangs on the walls. The effect is the retain the historic feel of the place, but without it feeling overbearing, but classy instead. The food, as you might expect, is excellent, focusing on locally sourced produce, including delicious Karoo lamb, and the location is in Oudtshoorn itself, making it well placed for all the regional attractions, and making it easy to opt for the restaurants and cafes of the town if you don’t want to eat at Rosenhof itself.
