Cleopatra Mountain Farmhouse styles itself as a gourmet getaway, and as you might expect it is tucked away in a quiet rural valley under the shadow of Giant’s Castle in the Drakensberg. The style is eclectic, with each room individually furnished with incredible attention to detail: so the Garden Room has picket fencing for a headboard and vintage seed packets on the wall for decoration. Located in front of a dam, the views are amazing, and there is good walking and hiking to be had on the property itself. There are a number of activities in the immediate vicinity including horse riding and San rock art sites. At the end of the day you’ll be treated to an amazing meal: rich, tasty and made with incredibly fresh ingredients. In fact, the food at Cleopatra’s is so plentiful and decadent that we don’t advise staying more than two or three nights!
