Day 1
Fly overnight to Durban (either via Johannesburg or direct with British Airways).
Day 2
Collect your hire car on arrival and drive west to the small town of Himeville for a two night stay.
Day 3
Enjoy a guided tour up the famous Sani Pass to Lesotho (don’t forget your passport and some warm clothes!).
Day 4
Drive to the stunning Drakensberg Mountains for a three night stay.
Day 5-6
There is a huge amount to enjoy in the Drakensberg Mountains, including walking, fishing, birdwatching, mountain biking and horse riding. For a more sedate afternoon you may like to enjoy a concert at the Drakensberg Boys Choir School.
Day 7
From the Drakensberg Mountains your journey heads east to the Battlefields region for a three night stay.
Day 8-9
Undertake tours of Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift as well as relaxing and maybe visiting other notable battlefields in the area.
Day 10
Head to one of KwaZulu Natal’s fantastic reserves for three nights on safari. There is a wide range of safari lodges to choose from, to suit all budgets and tastes and wherever you stay, excitement is guaranteed!
Day 11-12
Safari is hugely rewarding, with game drives getting you incredibly close to the big game, and bush walks introducing you to the smaller residents of the bush.
Day 13
Drive back to Durban for your flight home (via either Johannesburg or direct with British Airways).

KwaZulu Natal is often overlooked when planning a South Africa holiday but with stunning scenery, fascinating history and wonderful safari it is a great part of the country  to spend two weeks exploring, with the added bonus of dry, sunny winters.  Arriving into Durban you will drive west to stay near the famous Sani Pass which leads up to Lesotho. From here you will head further into the Drakensberg Mountains with its fabulous walks, bird watching and fishing to name just a few activities before continuing to the Battlefields and an insight into the history and culture of this region.  Finally end your holiday with a few days on safari – the ultimate in excitement, as you head out each day into the bush to see what close encounters await with Africa’s big game.
