Our favourite accommodation within the Onguma Reserve, the Tented Camp is a traditional, intimate safari camp with tasteful accommodation and a laid-back feel. There are seven stylish tents on wooden platforms, with partial stone partitions separating the sleeping area from the twin basined bathroom behind, which leads out to an open-air shower. The rooms are spacious and chic, with natural colour tones and minimal touches, along with a private veranda with comfortable chairs to watch animals come to the camp’s floodlit waterhole.
This subtle, soothing aesthetic is continued in the main areas of camp, where there are two lounges with cosy sofas and armchairs. The dining area can be open plan in the warmer months or enclosed under canvas during winter. There is a small infinity pool adjacent to the waterhole, with sun loungers and bean bags for afternoon game viewing. All of the varied Onguma activities can be enjoyed, including day and night drives in the reserve, guided walks in the reserve, drives into Etosha and the recently unveiled rhino research drive, where guests can track the black rhino that have recently been introduced to the reserve and learn about conservation efforts.
