Your resident hosts, Richard and Trish, will greet you like a long-lost friend as you walk through the door of Bujera Fort. This is a new property built to resemble the bygone architecture of a fortress, however, the use of salvaged doors and windows, and the owner’s eye for artifacts, create a sense of history.
Inside you will find an extremely tasteful and comfortable home-from-home, with a blend of Rajasthani decor and a touch of twee England. If you are secretly yearning some home comforts, then Bujera Fort brings Burford to the Aravali hills. Expect a house party style arrangement, with pre dinner drinks and a set mealtime, usually 8pm.
The new pool is stunning and begs for a few days at leisure unwinding, ideal if Udaipur is your final stop after a touring holiday of Rajasthan. This is the perfect location for anybody looking to be within driving distance of Udaipur but seeking peace in the hills.
The drive to Udaipur takes approximately 20 minutes and is considered too far after dark for a rickshaw ride. However, your driver would be happy to ensure you arrive home safely after dinner if you decide to venture away from the pull of Bujera Fort.
The accommodation consists of Cloister rooms with private balconies and two large master suites in the main house. The Cottage consists of three double bedrooms set within a walled garden, with a small plunge pool, accessible from the ground floor. Please note the rooms have no televisions or telephones as the property is run as a homestay, not a conventional hotel.
