Your day will begin with a short tour of nearby San Ramon. Known as Costa Rica’s “city of poets”, San Ramon was the birthplace of three previous presidents, including Pepe Figueres who abolished Costa Rica’s military and established its current democracy. You will visit a photo gallery in his honour, as well as the nearby church and Central Park. Continue south along the Pan-American Highway to Naranjo district where you will take an enjoyable coffee tour in a beautiful estate set in 247 hectares of rolling coffee plantations. Your final stop will be the handicrafts village of Sarchí. This small community is the artisan centre of Costa Rica – it has undoubtedly become of a bit of a tourist trap in recent years, but it is a good place to pick up some souvenirs and see displays of the traditional ox-cart painting).
(Please note this tour is only available from Villa Blanca – similar tours can be arranged from El Silencio, which can be discussed with concierge upon arrival).
