El Manantial del Silencio has a fabulous location right opposite the famed Seven Colured Hill just outside Purmamarca north of Salta, so great views of the landscape right in front of you. Despite being a modern building, Manantial seems like an old traditional building of the region, constructed with adobe walls and cane roof, with traditional antique furniture dotted about the interiors. As well as exploring the small town of Purmamraca nearby, the gardens it is set in are extensive for some time to relax between touring the region.
Rooms are rustic and charming rather than deluxe but perfectly comfortable. For the best view, choose the Superior Suite on the upper floor with a private living room and the colourful rock formations. There is also a separate casa with two bedrooms and a living room which would be great for families or a group of friends. There is a lovely pool in the garden with a nice spa and you can also purchase local handicrafts. The restaurant with its vivid colonial style décor offers gourmet Andean cuisine with its menu designed by a well-known Argentine chef and a well chosen local and national wine list.
