Jardin Escondido really does live up to its name, a ‘Secret Garden’ in chic Palermo district, once the city home of Francis Ford Coppola when he was writing the script for Tetro, as he wanted to immerse himself in bohemian porteño life. If you prefer a more home from home experience than a traditional hotel, then this may be just the right address for you. This cosy boutique hotel is a 20s era house filled with green patios on three different levels and a solar-heated splash pool in the garden for cooling off in summer, also a great spot amongst the greenery for a drink in the evening.
This charming hidden gem features seven unique suites, named after family members and decorated with rich Argentine furnishings, many selected personally by the Coppolas. Jardin Escondido does not have a restaurant but it does serve a great and varied breakfast in the library. A lack of restaurant though in Palermo is hardly an issue as the Soho area is dotted with a wide variety of restaurants and bars a short walk away. There is an honesty bar with a wide selection of wines. The hotel staff can even arrange for an authentic asado (barbeque) in the garden if requested in advance in the outdoor kitchen with parilla (grill).
