El Cortijo is a pretty little boutique hotel in the small charming town of Cachi, around 100 miles south of Salta. Cosy and intimate, this hotel is a colonial style building with interior courtyards, little lounges and terraces tucked away and a really friendly feel. Lovingly renovated, the lounge area surrounds a chimney with log fire burning on chilly evenings. The hotel is just a short stroll away from the main square of this pretty town. There are some great restaurants, cafes and shops dotted around the square – its an ideal place to grab a glass of wine or a coffee and watch the world go by or explore the little nearby museum.
While the guestrooms themselves are simply furnished, they are very comfortable and all set off a balconied walkway, some with private terraces. Each room is decorated a bit differently with local textiles and with local stonework architecture. Their restaurant, Catalino, that runs off the hotel entrance, is arguably the best in Cachi and is a great place to try a whole range of gourmet style regional and traditional options, paired with Argentine wines. This is a great centrally located option in a pretty town if you want a slice of local norteño life.
