The Island Lodge is – quite understandably – one of our most popular places to stay, with ever-positive feedback from our discerning returning clients. A friendly boutique offering, in the Ben Tre region of the Mekong Delta, the lodge is situated on the charmingly-named Unicorn Island, near the town of My Tho. Although you are only 2 hours from the hustle and bustle of Saigon, the Island Lodge seems to be a world away. Beautiful countryside, local villages and markets, and easily-navigable waterways are on your doorstep, allowing you to explore a part of the Delta that the daytrippers from the city rarely see.
Rooms are simple but well-appointed, offering an authentic rustic charm, and the friendly staff ensure that your stay here will be a peaceful and enjoyable one. It is possible to organise various excursions through the front desk, or hop on a bike to create your own adventure. We recommend a journey through the backwaters with one of the local team, who will show you their own slice of the Mekong, seeing traditional markets, visiting handicraft workshops and meeting the farmers who grow the fruit, rice and coconuts that feeds the whole country. Many prefer just to lie by the pool though, or relax with in the perfectly manicured gardens, watching the world go by at an unhurried pace.
The restaurant onsite serves up a delicious combination of French and Vietnamese treats, reflecting the heritage of the owners and head chef, with an expansive collection of wines to choose from. Boasting a small cocktail bar, a spa, jacuzzi and a modest spa, you’d be forgiven for wanting to spend a few nights unwinding here to end your holiday.
