Once a Mercure Hotel but now under new management, this central hotel provides a great base from which to explore the city. Its central, its comfortable and it has all the necessary facilities for a comfortable stay. Whereas the piped music in the rather drab corridors may hint at its previous tenants, once in the rooms a revelation begins. Constrained to a very conventional layout, they have tried to instil some character with novel bathtubs, large interior windows and stylish decorative touches. The 110 pleasant rooms enjoy panoramic views of either the Perfume River and the Citadel or Le Loi Street and the heart of Hue City. The stylish rooms are further complimented by the light and breezy restaurant, with pleasant outdoor patio terrace and adjacent swimming pool.
The lobby may be considered a little too cavernous and grand (ostentatious?) for the actual hotel, so don’t worry – it all becomes more tasteful once past the reception desk. The Moung Thanh may fall a little short on character, but it is to be commended for its comfort and value.
