Experience traditional Vietnamese living at the Moon Garden Homestay located in the ancient village of Ky Son, just 1 hour 30 minutes from central Hanoi. Although called a “homestay”, the cost and accommodation is more that of a small hotel or guesthouse. The property is a former holiday home for a city family but now welcomes guests to the traditional ancient houses; Mango house, Pomelo house, Frangipani house and Guava house, all featuring traditional architecture, tiled roofs and antique furnishings. The accommodation is split between the houses and includes en-suite bedrooms, spacious living rooms and pretty terraces. The Stilt House has 9 shared rooms (double or twin) separated by curtains and four bathrooms and is ideal for guests on a budget or wanting to try something a little more adventurous. The house is adjacent to the rice field, lake and garden with the mountain view.
At the homestay you can enjoy a variety of activities as you throw yourself into local village life – learn skills in the kitchen as you rustle up tasting Vietnamese spring rolls, cycle through the villages to visit the local nursery school, work on the farm to tend to the crops or join a local family for a spot of fishing. At the end of the day you can relax with a massage and traditional steam bath with fragrant herbs and remedies to leave you blissfully relaxed and ready for a good nights sleep. For longer visits you can visit Thuy Thuy An Village or Ba Vi National Park.
The Moon Garden Homestay is a peaceful escape from the crowds and tourists in other areas of Northern Vietnam and offers a chance to discover the countryside less than 2 hours from Hanoi.
