Just three hours from the bustling city of Hanoi, in the heart of the Mai Chau Valley is the beautiful Mai Chau Ecolodge and one of our favourite options in Mai Chau. Sitting atop a hill in Na PhonVillage, the Ecolodge is a secluded haven set in a stunning backdrop of lush rice paddies and emerald mountains, and just a short walk from the neighbouring villages of La and Pom Coong meaning you really can feel a part of traditional village life.

The lodge has been constructed from natural materials, and inspired by the natural beauty of the surroundings, offers a calm and serene refuge to enjoy one of Vietnam’s most beautiful areas. With thatched roofs, bamboo interiors and jungle showers, the lodge embodies the style of a traditional stilt style house. For a real back to nature experience, the lodge is absent of televisions and modern entertainment (though wifi is still available throughout), meaning you can relax, soak up the views and embrace the tranquillity of the surrounds.

The 19 bungalows housing all the guest rooms, each feature a private garden and the whole experience still echoes that of the luxury city hotels – room service, a daily turndown, 24 hour reception and air conditioning in all guest rooms. With many tribal villages scattered around Mai Chau, there is plenty to see and do including some excellent hiking, leisurely walks, bicycle tours through the paddy fields, boat tours and cooking classes. For a bit of down time, relax in the lake style swimming pool at the lodge or enjoy drinks in the lobby bar whilst enjoying the magnificent views over the rice fields and towering limestone peaks.
