Departing your hotel after breakfast, cycle into the countryside of Hoi An to start exploring the narrow country roads, heading towards one of the many beautiful villages surrounding the town. As you cycle along the roads keep your eyes peeled (and your camera handy) for sights such as water buffalos, rice paddy fields and organic vegetable farms. Stop along your way to greet the friendly locals before coming to rest at a local fishing village. Here you will learn how to spread a traditional fishing net (called a “ro”) from a small round bamboo basket boat (called a “thung chai”). These have been employed by Vietnamese fishermen for centuries to ply their trade and are still an icionic image of Vietnam. After mastering your new skills, continue on your way to visit a water palm area surrounded by coconut trees – here you will learn about the history of this unique and beautiful area, before sitting down to enjoy a tasty seafood lunch on-board a boat.
