Standing at 10,311 feet, Fansipan is Vietnam’s highest mountain. It is only 4 miles from Sapa Town, but it takes at least 3 days of forest trekking to get up the peak and back. There is nothing too technical en-route. No ropes are needed and therefore the peak is accessible to anybody who is in reasonably good shape. You simply need endurance and plenty of positive energy, as the terrain is attritional and often heavy going, plus the weather can sometimes be foggy and soggy (but sometimes beautiful!).
As there are no mountain huts on the way, you will be camping and porters will carry all the equipment and food that you need.
