Just outside Zagora, after driving down a narrow track and then walking through walled gardens, you arrive at Riad Lamane. Sprawling across several walled gardens, there are a variety of rooms, from standard rooms in the main buildings, to African or Berber tents. Decoration and furnishings are simple and vibrantly coloured, a theme continued throughout the extensive public areas. There are gardens with sculptures, a swimming pool, a lounge and a library, and the whole atmosphere is very unpretentious. Although popular with groups, you can find your own space within the grounds and it’s a very affordable base from which to explore the area.
