A short distance outside M’Hamid are the dunes of the Erg Lehoudi. Not as extensive or high as the Erg Chebbi or Erg Chigaga, they are none-the-less impressive, rising to 100 metres and made of pale sand rather than the more usual burnt orange colour. They are an interesting enough diversion, but in truth, if you’ve made it all the way to M’Hamid, you may as well keep going for another couple of hours to the Erg Chigaga.
