Just south of Agadir and around 100 miles from Taroudant is one of Morocco’s most important national parks, the Souss-Massa. It was formed in 1991 primarily to protect the prolific bird species the live and breed on the estuaries of the Souss and Massa rivers; most notable of these is the bald ibis, and the Souss estuary is home to the only viable colony of these birds worshipped as the God of Wisdom in Ancient Egypt. An artificial lake has been created inland to provide further habitat for birds, and your 4×4 trip will cover all of these spots as well as the village of Sidi Rbat and a drive along the beach.
