Heading eastwards towards the Sahara, Tineghir appears like a welcome mirage after miles of stony, dry landscape. The town itself is largely modern, although the new buildings have been built in sympathetic, traditional style. In common with most towns in the area, it’s dusty and somehow combines a sleepy one-horse feel whilst also seeming quite busy! Wonder through the older part of the town to the north and east. Here you have sights like the ancient, and recently restored Medersa Ikelane as well as wonderful views out over the patchwork of palm plantations, pisé walls, and ksour (fortified villages).
