Ideas for your free time
Explore the ramparts and medina – hours can be spent wandering the white-washed walls of the town which are adorned with artist murals and crafts. This is a refreshing alternative to the brown medina walls of Fez for instance, and is a photographer’s paradise. The southern pier is open to the public and offers beautiful sunset views across the ocean.
Asilah Arts Festival – every summer international artists flock to this tiny coastal town to showcase their work and paint murals all over the medina. There are also music concerts, exhibitions, and a horse festival alongside the public art demonstrations.
Relax on the beach – there are several beaches surrounding Asilah, one of them directly off the ancient medina. However, a favourite of ours is only a short drive away; Paradise Beach offers soft sand and seclusion for that off-the-beaten-track feel.
