Osaka has a lot to do – though for most people this will involve consuming calories, going to be bed far too late, and possibly filling your suitcases with all the incredible shopping on offer.  This is also one of the more family-friendly cities in Japan though, and a great place to end a trip if you have kids in tow.

The Osaka Waterfront is truly a place of wonder.  Japan’s very own Universal Studios – opened in 2001 – will give you all the thrills and fun you would expect from the name.  With a featured Harry Potter and Jurassic Park section, and a recently opened Super Nintendo Land, you could happily spend a few days here.

Don’t miss out on the world-class Kaiyukan Aquarium though – just across the water and linked by frequent ferries.  With a gargantuan tank that spans several storeys, this is one of the best places to see the ocean life of the Pacific without getting your feet wet.
