Shahpura Bagh is an ideal stop over en route to the west of Rajasthan, and a destination in itself. The carefully and sympathetically decorated building dates back over a century; it was once a summer residence for the Rulers of Shahpura. This is illustrated in its elaborate architecture, private lakes and 45 acres of woodland. Nowadays it’s also home to a delightful heated swimming pool, six Royal Suites, four Deluxe Rooms, a cosy restaurant and acres of resplendent gardens. We love the warm and welcoming atmosphere, the picnics, the bird watching and the unpretentious colonial style at Shahpura. It’s a real gem.
Location
Sitting half way between Jaipur and Udaipur, Shahpura is an idyllic and unspoiled location. The area is tranquil and serene, offering a wonderful respite from the dusty cities of Rajasthan. Surrounded by lakes teeming with birds, green hills, village schools, tribal communities and local farms, Shahpura is arguably one of Rajasthan’s most relaxing and authentic rural destination.
