Mundackal Plantation Homestay is a warm, welcoming and inviting homestay that has become noted for its tongue tingling cuisine. The owners and hosts, Jose and Daisy, are incredibly friendly and Daisy’s cooking and demonstrations are certainly some of the highlights here. Other activities include bird watching in nearby Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, visiting local villages and churches, learning about the spices and fruits grown throughout the plantation as well as boating on Bhoothathan Dam.  We highly recommend this simple homestay for those with a specific interest in birds or cookery.

Location

Kothamangalam is a rural location that sits in the foothills of the Western Ghats and in the heartland of Kerala’s spice farms. The area has become known for Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, an evergreen lowland forest home to rich and diverse birdlife. Some argue the sanctuary to be the richest bird habitat in peninsular India.
