Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh sit en route between Narlai and Udaipur, so it’s well worth visiting one or both of these sights if travelling between Udaipur and Narlai by car. Kumbhalgarh, which comes under UNESCO’s protected Hill Forts of Rajasthan, is perched on a hilltop 1100 meters above sea level. It’s easily one of Rajasthan’s most impressive forts, dating back to 1485. The ramparts are up to 20 feet thick with a perimeter wall that extends 36 kilometers. There are over 360 temples within the fort itself. Ranakpur, on the other hand, is known for its spectacular and intricate marble Jain temple. The sight dates back to the 1400’s and its ornate carved pillars make it one of the world’s most impressive Jain temples.
