Lush with sal and bamboo forests that are interspersed by grassy maidans, Kanha National Park is widely regarded as one of India’s finest parks. It was also one of the first areas to be protected under Project Tiger. The park supports a vast amount of wildlife, which includes the only wild population of hard ground swamp deer. It’s also home to a healthy number of cats, including tiger, leopard and jungle cat. Kanha is also home to more than 200 species of butterflies and a huge variety of birds.
Kanha can be reached from Nagpur, Jabalpur and Raipur, however we recommend combining it with Bandhavgarh, Pench or Tadoba to make the most of Madhya Pradesh’s inimitable parks.
