Goa is the smallest state by area in India but it’s packed with white sands, shimmering waters, and some of the country’s most charming colonial houses and catholic churches. The Portuguese arrived in Goa in the 16th century as merchants and it remained a Portuguese outpost for almost 500 years. It’s impossible not to notice the influence of its colonial rule, and many converted colonial houses and mansions make exquisite hotels and guesthouses.  Despite it’s history, many domestic and international travellers visit Goa simply for its beaches and hotels that range from large international chains to small and chic boutique hotels. In general northern Goa is more congested, while southern Goa is quieter with fewer restaurants and hotels. The people of Goa move at a slow pace but despite this Goa remains the richest state in India and we think it’s a wonderful place for some downtime.
