Housed in a beautifully restored colonial building, the iconic Jesselton hotel showcases original colonial period features, fixtures, furniture and finishes. Built in 1954, the Jesselton Hotel boasts a rich history as it is Kota Kinabalu city’s first hotel built after the Second World War (WWII). We find the rather old school style of the hotel incredibly charming and a wonderful alternative to the modern city offerings. The 32 guestrooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Powerful air conditioning, cosy dressing gowns and hot showers all feature. A delicious a la carte breakfast is served daily or guests can dine on authentic Malaysian cuisine in Bayu Restaurant.

The hotel’s special attention given to its guests is recognised by the signature welcome to visitors by the doorman donned in a colonial uniform complete with a tropical cork sun hat, an attire that represents the original colonial elegance and charm of a bygone era. Its central location on Gaya Street in the heart of the city offers a great insight into the local life of Kota Kinabalu and walking distances to most city highlights.
