Los Cerros is a lovely mid-size boutique style lodge that offers the best accommodation in El Chalten, a trekking mecca north of El Calafate. There are only a handful of simple lodges here anyway and this make a great base from which to explore the superb hikes in and around El Chalten. The main reason to be in El Chalten is to be embracing the great outdoors, hence why there are no tvs in the rooms, your screen is outside! The lodge is on the outskirts of the village and around 4 hours drive from El Calafate airport with lovely views over the surrounding valley.

It’s a modern building but has a cosy rustic feel in keeping with its natural surroundings. The rooms all have large windows as the landscape is the main attraction, complemented by warm coloured textiles and wood furnishings and a hydro-massage bath to ease those aching muscles after a long day’s hiking. There are some comfy living areas for enjoying a good book or a glass of wine as well as a bar and small sauna / spa area and a great restaurant with lots of Patagonian specialities and some good Argentine wines as well as delicious afternoon teas. With a few more facilities than most, we think it makes a great base for serious trekking in and around Chalten.
