Hosteria El Puma is a lovely little local lodge having been recently remodelled that offers simple, neat, rustic style accommodation and a really friendly atmosphere. It is great value for money in the El Chalten area, especially if all you want is a comfy base after full days out and about hiking. El Puma sits just off the main street of El Chalten, itself a fairly small village and is a great starting point for the treks that this area is famous for. It is a cosy mountain lodge that is perennially popular with hikers and nature lovers alike.

The lodge offers 12 simple log-cabin style rooms with all the modern amenities you are likely to need. The main areas are a great focal point for meeting other travellers in the lounge by the fireplace over a glass of wine or there is a small library as well for some peace and quiet. The staff are really friendly here and are great sources of info for tips on exploring the area. A simple but fresh continental breakfast is served buffet style informally at the bar and they can offer dinner for guests as well as boxed lunches on request. If you are exploring in more independent style and on a tighter budget, they also offer complimentary transfers to and from the bus terminal from El Calafate.
