Esplendor El Calafate is a really good quality hotel perched on a low hill overlooking El Calafate town itself and Lake Argentino. It’s a great base from which to explore around the Glaciers National Park as its an easy drive from the airport and walkable into town for restaurants and bars in the evening, although it’s a bit of a steep walk back up! This is a mid-size hotel but has a lovely contemporary and chic look using warm colours and local materials and with views out over town, the lake and the mountains beyond. And its larger size and a few more facilities will make it a good choice for families or those who want to base themselves in town.

There are some great lounges and public spaces to relax in. One of its highlights is a lovely indoor pool and small spa for a chance to relax after a full day outdoors exploring the glaciers and nearby ranches. Treat yourself to a massage and enjoy good food and wines at their restaurant, Iglu. There are great lake views from here and their signature cocktails make it a good spot for a relaxing sundowner. Rooms and suites are all a good size with contemporary décor and a few local touches, the main difference between the room categories being a view of lake or mountains.
