Aguas Arriba offers a truly unique Patagonian blend of seclusion and privacy off the usual beaten path and yet relatively accessible. The lodge overlooks Lake Desierto which is around 250km from El Calafate and is in a pristine natural reserve area ideal for hiking and fly-fishing. Reached only by boat access across the Lake or by 3 hour hike from the nearest road point, this is a seriously secluded retreat. The traditional log cabin construction of the lodge is surrounded by really breath-taking scenery of ancient forest and emerald lakes. The lodge owners are also your hosts and this place specialises in attentive service and laidback luxury.
There are only 6 rooms here, elegantly furnished with great views of either the lake, Vespignani Glacier or Mt Fitz Roy. There is of course a cosy central lounge with log fire, overlooking the lake, to come together with fellow guests in the evenings. The food at Aguas Arriba is really imaginative using fresh, local ingredients and old family recipes. On a clear and warm evening, you may even eat out on the deck! The lodge is a great base for off-grid hiking, fishing or just relaxing in the tranquil surroundings. Meals and activities included (riding, biking and boat outings at additional cost).
